The Bolin Webb story began in the mountains of Switzerland. A quiet time to admire surroundings: Alpine views, clear skies, a comfortable stay in a mountain chalet. And within the tempo of raising a young family, a time also to reflect on the simple ways we spend our lives: the tools we use, the materials we see and hold, our day-to-day tasks.
For co-founder Derrick Webb, as for many, his day begins with shaving and grooming. Grooming, often a pedestrian routine, sees morning, day and week largely in repeat. This time should be spent carefully as well. Perhaps a rush. Perhaps not. But why compromise?
We should be aware of what we use, able to enjoy the experience, and expect good performance and the right result.
Derrick did not care to compromise. He saw the possibility of applying design style to grooming in a razor used regularly, and certainly on display in the bathroom. Here was an opportunity to bring together blade performance, ergonomic and hygienic handling, and not least aesthetics, in one razor: a razor that became the award-winning R1 from Bolin Webb.

NY Now is one of the largest USA trade fairs. In 2015 Bolin Webb was the winner in the Personal Care & Wellness category.
CoolBrands canvass opinions of experts and consumers to produce a barometer of Britain’s coolest brands, people and places. Bolin Webb qualified for the prestigious title in 2014.
Since 1954, the iF Design Award have recognised outstanding design as assessed by international expert juries. The X1 razor and stand was a 2014 winner.
The DME Award is the only international competition dedicated to the management of design and Bolin Webb received a honourable mention in 2012.
- All our razors are cast from a Zinc alloy in Birmingham, England.
- The alloy is melted down before being injected into one of our razor moulds.
- Once cooled, any imperfections are removed, any razor that fails inspection get melted back down.
- It’s not just the the curves of the razor that are inspired by modern supercars, many of our razor colours are also inspired by the automotive industry.
- The cast razors are primed, then hand sprayed with premium automotive paints before a durable lacquer is applied.
- The lacquer protects the paintwork and gives the razors their luxurious finish.
